Oil-based Mud Services

EMDAD proudly owns and operates a 75,000m2 camp in Habshan on the Bab/Buhasa Road strategically located in the oilfield area with an accommodation capacity of 250 and offices for 24. The facility hosts a plant designed to treat oil-based mud for which we have been allocated 10,000m2 after winning a contract with Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Operations (ADCO) for five years to provide an Oil-Based Mud (OBM) recovery processing plant.
The OBM plant processes the waste mud produced from oil and gas well drilling operations and treats the “cuttings”, to recover the oil and water using a heat-and-centrifuge process. Treated soil has less than 0.1% hydrocarbons. The Client, Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Operations (ADCO) has very stringent HSE requirements to ensure that the plant operations conform to the highest standards. The plant produces waste oil which can be sold for use in heating plants and treated sand which is highly compactable and used as a base for new roads and under building foundations. Under this strategy at least 99.95% of the oil from cuttings is reclaimed as fuel and the recovered water is used for irrigation. The thermal desorption process is “state of the art” technology and is the first implementation on a large scale in the Gulf.
